BU's First Generation College Student Program
The first generation college student programs hosted by the University Service Center are geared towards students who are among the first in their families to attend college. Through our first gen programming, the USC serves as a resource to students to help them smoothly and successfully transition from high school to college life and beyond. Past workshops have addressed the transition from high school to college, continuing student concerns, and other relevant topics like money management and networking. In addition, the USC provides a forum for first generation college students to socialize with one another through events like pizza parties and study breaks. Our programs adapt to meet changing needs and interests and the USC welcomes ideas from students for future workshop topics and social events.
Great welcome reception for first gen students and their families--a relaxing time after a busy day of move-in. Tomorrow looks to be busy, too, as Orientation Session 8 gets underway.
Looking forward to tomorrow's First Gen Welcome Reception. Since this orientation session is mostly transfer students it will be a smaller gathering compared to other weeks, but I bet the conversations will be just as interesting!
Great reception tonight--it was interesting to host in our office suite instead of the usual reception space. We were a cozy group, that is for sure!
Less than 24 hours until our next welcome reception.... We will be gathering at the USC this week--can't wait!
