The weather forecast is looking a wee bit more unsettled than it has been of late but that's no excuse to stop training folks. Fitness doesn't wait for sunshine. Just remember how refreshing a breeze or shower can be when you're working hard. Much easier than pure heat. Mind over matter. See you in the park!

Ok, the facebook launch! Finally getting around to catching up with the rest of the world. Summer special, prices for June, July and August are now £20 for one on one training. No gym? No equipment? Not much time? No problem. Simple Body Weight Circuit: 10 Push Ups 20 Squats 30 Second Plank 40 Star Jumps 1 minute rest and repeat 3-5 times. Stretch. Should take no more than 20 mins.

This article is very interesting in relation to returning to fitness after a break or injury. I'm incredibly injury prone but always seem to return to a good level of performance quickly. This goes some way into explaining the physiological reasons why being fit once aids getting that level back in both strength and endurance. Also raises some further questions over the lasting effects of doping.

Fitness class update. There will be no class next week (29th April). Starting on Wednesday 6th May it will now be a circuits class every week. This is due to the popularity on the once monthly circuits introduced earlier this year. Every Wednesday, 17:30, Health Rediscovered, 82 Gordon Street.

Only a week gone of April and the £25 sports massage deal is going down well. The spring marathoners seem particularly pleased. Plenty of time left to grab a bargain.

New class open to all available throughout July & August. Monday's at 5:15pm. Meet Clydeside by the Tradeston bridge. Shuttle runs, step ups, dips, push ups, skipping etc. Full body blast, mostly body weight. 45mins, £5 per person. Contact for more info.

Calf stretches are very important (especially for those who run). Common mistakes are that both main muscles are not stretched and the front of the shin is neglected. Here are some basic guidelines for stretching the calves. 1. Stretch with a straight leg, either in a split stance with the back leg straight or off a step. 2. Bend rear leg and push knee over toe in split stance or off a step with slight bend in leg. 3. In a kneeling stance, rest with shins on ground and feet pointed out behind you. Hold each stretch between 30 and 60 secs to develop greater flexibility.
