The Festival will showcase Local and National Brazilian Musicians and Dancers. For Calgarians, it will allow them to explore traditions of late and modern day Brazil. As Brazil’s global presence continues to grow it is important to understand this nation’s diverse culture. Brazilian Heat, different from most, aims to provide Affordable Family Fun and allow public of all ages to not only observe these traditions in action, but also to connect with them through interactive workshops. The focus is not only to bring community together, but to support local culture and art!

Brazilian Heat, different from most, aims to provide Affordable Family Fun and allow public of all ages to not only observe these traditions in action, but also to connect with them through interactive workshops. The focus is not only to bring community together, but to support local culture and art! As mentioned Brazilian Heat is an Expo of Brazilian Culture and Arts. This event will recognize and promote local and national Musicians & Dancers. The focus will be on Art, but there will be an aspect of education on Brazilian Culture, including workshops and a mosaic of the History of Brazil. The performances will be 1 to 1.5 hrs allowing a 15 to 30 min perusal for the public to view the “Interaction Zones.” This will include booths designed to provide interactive education on the History, Traditions, Language, Music & Dance of Brazil. There will also be local vendors selling Brazilian Goods and Food/Drink Vendors to provide a trial of the various traditional dishes eaten in Brazil. The performance will last 45 to 60 min, where the public attending the event will be invited to sit down and envision Brazil’s most Unique & Traditional Culture and Art Forms. The presentation will begin with a short 5 to 10 min Audiovisual Presentation of the History and Modern Day Culture. The performance following will provide live demonstration beginning with the Historical Dances & Music developed in Brazil by the African and Native Aboriginals enslaved by the Portuguese. Then it will transition into popular present day music and dance. This will include Capoeira, Maculelê, Maracatu, Afro, Samba, Samba-Reggae, Afoxé and more. The entire show will be complete with live performers in full costume. After the event a dance will follow with Live Drum and DJ all night! Throughout the performances Brazilian Heat will unify the artists and endorse the idea of a supportive community.
