Amazing classes tonight: 530pm Mat was all about Flow. Casey and Cally worked on stuff they didn't like, so side planks were in order. 630pm 2/3 Reformer was half Mat class, escalating with a tough arm series. We decided we are working on making a team called "Bria Varsity," where we become more seamless, aligned and effortless in our transitions. It's a group challenge and it's on...Lastly, that 730 Foundations was all about getting Pelvic Alignment Perfect. The ladies in this class saw huge improvements in form and strength, even in walking. Great night! Can't wait for tomorrow. (Love Suzanne)
The generosity of our teachers and clients helped us give over $200 to the Plus One Foundation last weekend. What cause or charity is close to your heart? We love to give back to our community.
Remember to mark your calendars for our donations-only Pilates class this Saturday, June 14th at 10 a.m. All proceeds will benefit the Plus One Foundation.
Tragedy at Seattle Pacific University. Our hearts go out to the victims and families. Bria is closed for the night. We're in lockdown holding tight. Be safe out there, Seattle.
Happy Memorial Day weekend! Monday 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. Classes have been cancelled since no one was registered. Enjoy sleeping in a bit!
Hi Fans! I wanted to share an experience I had in one of my classes this past weekend: A longtime client was doing an exercise that we had done many times before and one that she does well. She sometimes struggles with this particular one depending on the time of day and how her body is feeling but is determined to perfect it. I noticed this day she was moving through it with such control and grace and I told her so. She said that something I mentioned recently clicked in her and she made an adjustment to how she had done it before and noticed a difference in how her body responded. I was so excited to hear this! I talk a lot in my classes, giving cues and visuals in different ways as everyone takes in suggestions differently, and I often wonder if I talk too much. But this validated in me the need for different instruction, cues and visuals as everyone hears things in a different way and everyones bodies respond differently. This is another reason why taking different teacher's classes can be so beneficial as we all have a strong background in Pilates but each of us brings a different perspective to our classes. Try it and see if you don't notice that you take in something you hadn't heard before or if your body responds differently to what is being asked of it. ~Heather Skogerson (Bria Instructor)

Hi Fans! As Spring approaches, I feel the sense of renewal and excitement. Since moving to Seattle last February (yes, it's only been a little over a year) everyone at Bria inspires me use Pilates in my play time outside. During my 4 and 1/2 hour hike up Cougar Mountain last week I discovered the glory of barefoot hiking using the concepts of "footwork" to really make my feet work. The result? No pain and a truly fulfilling experience in nature. I keep learning that Pilates works when I work it "off my mat" as well as on it. Anyone interested in doing Pilates in nature?. As it gets warmer it would be great to practice in the sunshine. Leave comments below. ~Suzanne Malmad (Bria Instructor)
CONGRATULATIONS to Nik Morton! She is the first client to meet the 30 in 60 challenge! Way to go Nik!!!
Hi Fans! Winter is pretty much said and done with, but I am pursuing one more ride down the slopes next week. I was thrilled with my progress from last season to the current. I have more mind and body connection and awareness with the sport. Pilates has tremendously accelerated my learning curve as an adult. I feel my ability enhanced to be more efficient on my board and have more control with movement. I had more energy then last year and less fear, because I allowed my body to do the job and had more of a calm focused experience like when I do Pilates. ~Katalin Gyorgy (Bria Instructor)
