Through the years the name Brighton Central Schools has become synonymous with quality education, and many of the District’s 25,000 residents have purchased homes here because of Brighton’s excellent public education. Parents and community members maintain an active interest and involvement in the school system. Brighton students at all levels consistently score above national, state and local norms on standardized tests and earn numerous honors and scholarships each year for their achievements in academics, the arts, and athletics. The cosmopolitan atmosphere of Brighton Schools enriches the educational opportunities for all its students and broadens their views about the political, economic and social realities of an interdependent world. Approximately 26% of Brighton students are members of minority groups, including about 53 students from Rochester who participate in the Urban-Suburban Student Transfer program. Brighton students also have diverse national backgrounds from over 67 countries. The school district places a high priority on being respectful of and sensitive to the diversity of its community.
