One of our long-time patients, "Hank", passed away this week and it broke all of our hearts here at Brookwood. Liz spent the most time with him since he was a frequent boarder and she wrote a beautiful post about his passing. The last line is heartwarming. "As I sit here thinking back on the past 24 hours of my life, I can't quite seem to get past one particular event. This morning, one of my favorite patients from the animal clinic passed away. Although I love nearly each and every one of the pets and people we get the pleasure of meeting through my job, there are always those few patients I get the opportunity to really bond with as if they were my own. I can't even begin to describe the feelings I have in this moment after having learned today that Hank (the tank) has gone to puppy heaven. I've shed tears and thought back on those times I got to spend with him and yet I will still go to sleep tonight with a heavy heart for his family and all those who knew those sweet saddlebags lol. So if you took the time to read this, take some more time to love your babies (with and without fur), and know that when you take your pets to their veterinarian... Chances are they are loved more than you could possibly imagine."
