Sunday June 5 - Bruka Theatre. NEW CANULA BI-COASTAL FRINGE BENEFIT. We have the honor of presenting Gary Cremean's "New Canula". There are two showings - one at 2 PM and one at 4 PM. All tickets are $25 - and worth every bit. The monies help Gary Cremeans and David Simpson get to the Hollywood Fringe Festival in just a week and 1/2. New Canula is an unromantic feel good comedy in one act. A hapless unromantic with an immediate urge toward the afterlife; a desperate bank robber with nebulous ties to the underworld; and Grandma Betty with limitless Jersey-style homespun wisdomisms ... It’s New Canula. All monies go toward the fringe. Bruka is donating the performance space and The Wild River Grille is hosting a fundraiser from 5:30 - 7:30 with proceeds from drink going toward new Canula, appetizers and music with Gary Kephart and Tom Plunkett. Stop by, see some friends, make some friends and give New Canula some love - sending them off with your support. They are going to make Reno proud!!! Tickets are available at the door. Donations are also accepted toward their journey. www.newcanula.com

Opening Friday June 3, one of the most anticipated shows of the Bruka 2015/16 Season - Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play written by Anne Washburn. TEASER: For a long time, Washburn had been exploring what it would be like "to take a TV show and push it past the apocalypse and see what happened to it" and while she originally considered Friends, Cheers, and M*A*S*H, she ultimately settled on The Simpsons. Washburn held a workshop for a week in a bank vault beneath Wall Street which was being used as a shared rehearsal space in 2008 to see how much of any episode of The Simpsons the actors she had assembled, including Matthew Maher, Maria Dizzia, and Jennifer R. Morris, could remember. Maher knew The Simpsons well and the group decided on the 1993 episode "Cape Feare", based on the 1991 film Cape Fear, itself a remake of an eponymous 1962 film which is based on the 1957 novel The Executioners. He helped Dizzia and Morris remember the episode, then the two of them went on to perform it for an audience without his help; Washburn subsequently utilized recordings of this process in writing her play's first act. END TEASER. Mr. Burns opens with a post show champagne reception with appetizers from the Wild River Grille. Tickets for Mr. Burns are available through our box office at 775.323.3221, at The Melting Pot World Emporium in Downtown Reno or online at: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2545474
