I have always had a strong passion for clothing, art, and design. I love the thought of high quality, designer clothes. The only problem is, the way these lines looked did not fit my lifestyle. My goal was to come up with a designer label that would fit an alternative lifestyle. As I began to work on my line more ideas started to develop. First, the company needed a good name. APS (artists, poets, and soldiers) comes from my interest in the Renaissance era and of the Renaissance Man. If you are not familiar with what this is, I will give you a brief break down. During the Renaissance period, society believed that the human race was capable of anything as long as they kept working, studying, training, and growing. The Renaissance Man was someone that was talented in many different areas like the arts, science, politics, and anything else that would help society to grow. As I continued to develop my company I wanted to come up with something different that no one else was doing. I decided that the design of my shirts would made with custom stitch work instead of screen printing. I also decided that each shirt would be custom made per order. I liked the thought that my line wouldn't just be pulled out of a box in a warehouse and shipped to the customer. I wanted the clothes as tailor-made as possible, and I wanted to give my customers choices. After I came up with the designs for the line, I gave the customers the option of picking what color stitch work they wanted to use on their clothing. That way, if they had a favorite pair of shoes or hat they wanted to wear with my line, it would be a good way to tie the outfit together. It was also very important to me that all the materials used to make my shirts came from the United States of America. Lastly, a label is added with a hand stamped serial number on it. Each shirt, along with the serial number, is added into my computer system to keep a record for authenticity. I chose the name Artists, Poets, and Soldiers because I wanted my company to represent the Renaissance Man and the concept that we, as people, can be and do whatever we want as long as we strive for it. It's not about just being one thing, but to strive for diversity. I want this to be more than just a clothing company. I want my customers to be a part of my company, like a group, club, or clique. I added some social media pages to my website. This way, anyone that wants to express themselves or be a part of the website, can do so. There is also a customer upload picture page, quote page, and even a featured artist page. There will be more pages added as we grow.
