Description
Langs de kust van Nederland zijn nog veel sporen te vinden van de Tweede Wereldoorlog. De meest in het oog springende overblijfselen zijn de bunkers die als onderdeel van de Atlantikwall zijn gebouwd. Normaal zijn deze fascinerende betonnen kolossen gesloten voor het publiek, maar op zaterdag 6 juni 2015 zijn de bunkers in Zuid Holland voor één dag open! De Europese kust veranderde tijdens de Duitse bezetting letterlijk in een vesting. De bunkers, gebouwd op strategische plekken, zijn daarvan nog de stille getuigen. Maar de aanleg van de Atlantikwall had nog veel ingrijpender gevolgen voor bewoners in de kustregio. In Den Haag moesten bijvoorbeeld hele woonwijken wijken voor een kilometerslange tankgracht. Meer dan honderdduizend kustbewoners werden gedwongen hun huizen te verlaten en elders onderdak zoeken. Kom naar de Bunkerdag en bezoek niet alleen de bunkers, maar ervaar ook het onbekende verhaal van sloop en evacuatie langs onze kusten.
