"Slowdown bug hits sex workers in city" KOLKATA: The economic slowdown has affected nearly every profession, and the world's oldest is no exception. Thousands of commercial sex workers in Sonagachhi have been singed. A contracting clientele, coupled with spiralling real-estate prices in the area, has driven them to reduce rates and spend more time on the streets. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/kolkata/Slowdown-bug-hits-sex-workers-in-city/articleshow/4760311.cms

Thank you all for your patience in dealing with the Concur profile. After working with the Concur administrators and the travel agent we no longer need the profiles in order to secure your tickets. You therefor DO NOT have to complete the Concur profile.

INTERNATIONAL AIR TICKET & CONCUR PROFILE SETUP: The South Asia Center will purchase group air tickets from Penn's travel agency, Penn World Travel. Students are expected to travel to, and depart from India as a group. Students are allowed to change their return itinerary from that of the group; however, you will have to pay the airline fee to change the ticket and arrange for the changes to the itinerary yourself through the Concur Travel Management System. All students, regardless of itinerary, will need to set up a profile in Concur. This is a simple process (see instructions attached) but it must be completed before August 30th.

FINANCIAL AID TIMING: For those on financial aid, the aid will be applied to your bursar account in early August. This means that so long as your parents pay the overall Penn tuition bill by the end of July when it is due, there should be a credit balance available to use towards payment of the travel fee, in time to meet the August 30 deadline. (If you have direct deposit, it will be avail...able sooner, so please set this up if you haven't yet done so). Please keep in mind that the financial aid for this program will not appear on your statement as separate from other Penn financial aid. This means that if the bill is not paid on time or if there is an outstanding balance on your account, the aid will first be applied to University charges, i.e., there will NOT be a credit balance showing in your account). If you have questions about financial aid, please contact Joel Carstens, University Director of Financial Aid, at carstens@upenn.edu.

TRAVEL FEE PAYMENT REMINDER: This is a reminder that the entire travel fee balance (minus the $300 deposit) is due August 30 (not August 15 as indicated in the Commitment Form). We will not register you for the course(s) for the fall term until the fee is received. These funds are needed for the program expenses associated with the overseas trip.

PASSPORT REMINDER: Please make sure your passports are current and valid at minimum through June 19, 2015. If you need to apply for or renew your passport, please begin the expedited process ASAP. You will need your passport when you return from Summer break so we can begin the visa application process. If you are going home for summer break, make sure to bring back your passport when you return for the fall term.
