Portobello's newest eatery is the area's first not-for-profit café run by staff and volunteers drawn from North Kensington's diverse population and the lunchtime menu offers a mini world tour of familiar and new dishes from North and East Africa, Europe, the Middle East, South Asia and the Caribbean. Everything is homemade and served by skilled cooks who have opened up family recipe books and closely guarded culinary secrets to offer lunch menus that are unique, simple, tasty and always good value – vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes are less than £5. Café NOVA is located above the popular Portobello Green Fitness Club, on Thorpe Close, in a newly refurbished space that offers a relaxed escape from the bustle of the market. There's a restaurant area, comfy sofas, a balcony for al-fresco eating overlooking Portobello Green, free Wi-Fi, a play space for children and a programme of art exhibitions and special events.
