Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF) is a unique three-day event that merges a variety of cultural displays through an Art Fair, art market, dance program, food and satellite venues. CIAF is the only art fair in Australia to welcome commercial art galleries and Indigenous art centres to sell and showcase art by Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists. The Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF) offers an opportunity to experience the beauty and diversity of Indigenous cultures. Held over three days annually in July, CIAF is an unparalleled celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art, dance and music. Over the past six years CIAF has emerged as the nation's premier art fair. It has given more than 80,000 visitors the chance to immerse themselves in the state's rich diversity of Indigenous art in an ethically sound environment, with both commercial art galleries and Indigenous art centres selling artwork by Queensland born or based Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists. This year's program will be available soon online at - www.ciaf.com.au Watch this space for more information! CIAF INTO THE FUTURE The Queensland Government announced major changes to Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF)in 2014, with the award-winning event moving to a new delivery model from 2014. Arts Queensland delivered CIAF from 2009 to 2014, with a Cairns-based team and many fantastic business and Government sponsors. From 2015 CIAFis delivered by a not for profit company guided by a board. The next Cairns Indigenous Art Fair will be from 15 July - 17 July 2016. The Queensland Government will continue to support CIAF with funding of $1.568 million for the transition to a new delivery model; CIAF Presents and future fairs.

ART FAIR ETHICS Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF) was an initiative of the Queensland Government dedicated to generating income for and supporting the career and market development of Queensland Indigenous artists. In 2014 CIAF Ltd became a company limited by guarantee and is partly funded by Arts Qld, Tourism & Events Qld, Australia Council for the Arts and Ministry for the Arts. CIAF adheres to the Indigenous Art Code. The Code is designed to strengthen fair and ethical trade in the Indigenous visual art industry. It specifies a set of minimum standards for dealers, agents and artists, and defines terms of trade, rights and responsibilities for the sale and management of artworks.
