For the aspiring or experienced cake decorator in the Newcastle / Hunter region

Description

The Cake Decorators’ Guild of NSW, newly formed Newcastle Branch Inc. invites you to join us as a group of people interested in cake decorating at a professional level, in the Newcastle area. We meet at Trinity Uniting Church Hall, corner Regent St and Portland Place, New Lambton, on the 3rd Saturday each month from February to November. Meetings run from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm. There is a demonstration in the morning, followed by a light lunch (bring a plate to share) then a short meeting. This is an opportunity to pick up new hints, different techniques, and meet other like minded people for a very relaxed day. Some meetings are run as workshops, where you bring your own tools, any prior preparation needed, and have the opportunity to try something different in a practical way. There is always plenty of notice for what to bring. The meetings are planned for the year in advance, and suggestions for demonstrators/demonstrations are always welcome. Our first meeting for the year is 16th February, also our AGM, prior to the State AGM on 3rd March 2013. This means that fees for 2013 are due at our February meeting if you wish to take part in the voting. $50 covers your fees and insurance. There is a $10 joining fee, payable only once if you renew your membership on time. Your personal insurance, if required, is a separate fee. We are always invited to visit other branches for demonstrations and special roster days, held annually by each branch. This is where you see first class Demonstrators (often 4). Our SRD is Sat 19th October, 2013. There are also a number of competitions held through the year if you’d like to participate. The Newcastle and Sydney Royal Easter Shows, a “Challenge” weekend for the whole State, or a National weekend of seminars. This is where you’ll see Australia’s best, and possibly International Cake Decorators, and meet other enthusiastic decorators. Southern Tablelands Branch will host a weekend of demonstrations from 17-19th May, 2013. A weekly entry fee of $5 is charged for morning tea and hall hire, Visitors are most welcome, the fee is $10. We also have a raffle each meeting. Membership is open to people from 5 to 85 years of age. We are intending to start Childrens’ lessons from 5-17 years of age. There will be a fee for this.
