The staff have high expectations and work collaboratively in teams to develop comprehensive curriculum programs. Currently each class is focussing on the following topics in Maths: Prep/1 - Reading, writing, ordering and partitioning one and two digit numbers Grade 1 with Mrs Jennings - Partitioning two digit numbers Grade 2 with Mr Prockter - Time/Calendars Grade 1/2 with Mrs Tunbridge - Division/Real life sharing Grade 3/4 - Multiplication and division Grade 5/6 - Fractions To follow up from our last post, we encourage you this fortnight to include your child/ren in shopping trips. It would be great to see our young mathematicians reading price tags, weighing fruit and vegetables, looking at catalogues, adding up wish lists, and working with money. Happy shopping from the Numeracy Team!

Walking School Bus-Change of Times For those children who meet the Walking School Bus at the corner of Scott Pde and Haines St, we are changing the departure time to 8:30am instead of 8:40am. This will allow a few more minutes for the teachers to reach their classrooms before the first bell rings. We hope everyone will be able to make this new time. The Walking School Bus that departs from the corner of Water St and Bradbury St will still depart at 8:40am. Thank you everyone for your support so far! :)

A busy few days ahead for Caledonian! Tomorrow is a casual dress day, but students need to make sure they are SunSmart! That means no singlets, shoestring strap tops or open toed shoes. The final assembly is at 9.10am. At 2.45pm we have our traditional Grade 6 Guard of Honour when the Grade 6 students ring the old school bell and walk through the rows of students out the front gate. This Thursday and Friday students attending school will be working alongside teachers to clean up classroom spaces and prepare rooms for 2015. Please note students will need to wear school uniform if attending on Thursday/Friday. The staff at Caledonian Primary School wish everyone a safe and happy holiday.

Community Connect News! ELECTION DAY BBQ! Community Connect will assist in running a BBQ Sausage Sizzle at school on Sat 29th November. The multi-purpose room will again be used as a local election centre and this presents us with an awesome opportunity to raise some much needed funds for the school and our children. Details still to be finalised (approx. 8am-2pm), however we will need A LOT of help and support, both on the day and leading up to, to ensure it is a success and that the majority of the work does not fall on a few wee shoulders. Please spread far and wide and if you are able to assist, even for just a short time, please add your name to the roster at the office or see Sarah Watts, Pam or Andrew for more information. AFTERNOON OF MUSIC! Our musicians are busy practicing their pieces for An Afternoon of Music this Wednesday 26th November. Students will perform for their special guests from 1.30pm. If you are able to assist with catering of afternoon tea, please let Pam know.
