The origins of the historic relationship that exists between the First Nation tribes of Treaty 7 and the Calgary Stampede dates now back more than 100 years when Guy Weadick, creator of the very first Calgary Stampede, insisted that First Nations be a part of the celebration. Since then, the Indian Village has enabled the First Nation tribes of Treaty 7 the freedom to reinforce and celebrate their culture and to proudly share it with the world. The Indian Village continues to be a major part of the Calgary Stampede and invites visitors to experience First Nations traditions and culture for themselves.
