Description
Canadian Mental Health Association Durham is a community mental health centre that has been providing mental health services to Durham Region for over 55 years. During that time, it has evolved to provide a broad range of services to individuals and their families experiencing mental health challenges, from information and education to case management, psychosocial rehabilitation, housing and primary healthcare.These services are provided through inter-professional teams focused on providing clinically-based services that, in addition to dealing with client mental health issues, address social determinants of health using the recovery model. The Canadian Mental Health Association Durham is part of the national Canadian Mental Health Association which was founded in 1918, and is one of the oldest voluntary organizations in Canada. It currently receives funding from Central East Local Health Integration Network, Ministry of Health and Long-term Care, Federal Project Grants, United Way Greater Toronto Area, Royal Bank of Canada, Ontario Trillium Foundation, Membership, Donations and Special Projects. Accredited by Accreditation Canada with Exemplary Standing, 2012 – 2016. Our Mental Health Centre promotes and enhances the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of our community. We do this through education, collaboration, advocacy, and the provision of a broad range of direct services that meet our community’s needs. Our Vision We envision mentally healthy people in a healthy society. CMHA-Durham fulfills its mission by: Providing a range of services and community-based mental health programs; Educating the broader community regarding mental health issues; Working closely with other related services in the community; Responding to the needs of the community by establishing new programs.
