An independent research initiative to study contemporary social democracy in Canada headed by Dr. David McGrane. Un projet de recherche indépendant qui porte sur le sujet de la social-démocratie contemporaine au Canada de Professeur David McGrane.

Description

In July 2013, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council awarded a three-year $56,000 grant to Dr. David McGrane for an independent research initiative to study contemporary social democracy in Canada. The primary outcome of the Canadian Social Democracy Study will be an academic book examining the activity and ideology of the federal NDP from Jack Layton’s election as leader in 2003 through to the 2015 election. The book will be solely authored by Dr. McGrane and submitted for publication to the University of British Columbia Press. A secondary component of the Canadian Social Democracy Study will be the creation of a network of academics studying the NDP. Events will be organized to bring these academics together to share their work and their research will be showcased at www.canadiansocialdemocracy.ca. En juillet 2013, le Conseil de recherche en sciences humaines a accordé une subvention de 56,000$ de trois ans au Professeur David McGrane pour un projet de recherche indépendant qui porte sur le sujet de la social-démocratie contemporaine au Canada. Le résultat principal de l’étude sur la social-démocratie au Canada sera un livre académique qui examinera les activités et l’idéologie du NPD fédéral, entre l’élection de Jack Layton en 2003 comme chef jusqu’à l’élection de 2015. Le livre sera écrit par le Professeur David McGrane et soumis pour publication au University of British Columbia Press. The Canadian Social Democracy Study will use a mixed-method approach combining public opinion polling, analysis of the federal NDP in the House of Commons, and interviews with NDP members, MPs, and party officials.
