Description

Canutillo High School (CHS) opened its doors on South Desert Blvd. to students in January 2006 as a beacon of aesthetic beauty and of academic and extracurricular excellence to all who travel I-10. The campus capacity is 1,800 students. CHS promotes college readiness for all of its students, while paying special attention to career preparedness as well. CHS offers students the opportunity to obtain college credit by taking and passing end of course exams for Advanced Placement (AP) courses offered in English, Social Studies, Math, Science, Art, and Foreign Language. In addition, early admissions courses offered in conjunction with EPCC allow students to earn high school and college credit in the core content areas. 26 credits is the Recommended graduation plan at Canutillo High School, with many students choosing to pursue advanced measures to become Distinguished Achievement Plan (DAP) graduates. Along with a variety of core subjects, CHS offers a wide range of elective courses including NJROTC, Band, Choir, Dance, Theater, and Journalism. In Career & Technical Education (CTE), CHS offers: Ag-Science, Health Science, Business Education, Culinary Arts, Robotics/Electronics/Engineering, and soon Law Enforcement, along with many others. Students leave CHS with certifications that allow them to follow post-secondary pursuits of college/university and employment in high paying, high need employment areas. CHS also offers outstanding athletic sports and is home to district and bi-district champion caliber programs year in and year out including: football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, track, soccer, golf, cross country, tennis, and cheerleading. Students are supported by outstanding team of administrators, teachers, counselors, and staff with one of the lowest student to teacher ratio in Region 19. Canutillo High School is small enough to know and care for the individual needs of every student, but large enough to offer all that is needed for the success of each student today and in the future.
