We had some recent feedback after a hoarding clearance to say that the gentleman's sister had never seen him looking better and to ensure us that his flat was now tidier than ever. He was better mentally and benefited greatly from the whole experience. He had been nervous at first that we would go in and take all the things that he wanted to keep away but we worked with him to allay his fears and managed to persuade him that a few items did need to be removed as they were no longer of use. His sister even remarked that we had made them both feel very comfortable and at ease and that was surprising as he suffers from paranoid schizophrenia. He then visited us in the office a few months later and we were pleased to note that he was cheerful and positive and very grateful to us for all of our hard work.
We have recently received a grant from the Hertfordshire County Council local projects initiative to provide an emergency response for Hoarding tenants/home owners to reduce the risk of slips, trips and falls in the home and to prevent illness and hospital admission by starting to deal with the problems caused by Hoarding. To clear a safe area in the home for heating over the winter. To allow access for work to be carried out to fix problems in the home to make them safer, thus reducing the risk of fire. To be able to start work with Hoarders to find long term emotional and physical solution to their Hoarding issues in conjunction with Care 4 Freedom Ltd.
