CareFreight provides a charity airfreight service in support of drought affected Australian farmers and other Australians in need.
Due to the current Australian droughts, there are an abundance of farmers, and other Australians in need of relief. Carefreights' sorties are here to support those in need, and help student pilots develop their skills without extra expense. The real world aviation experience for student pilots, and learning the value in supporting fellow Australians is priceless. All over Australia, there are student pilots burning fuel and resources for the sake of training and building their aviation experience. Most students will do around 100 hours of cross country flight time during their commercial pilots license course. This equates to around 18,500 km traveled. CareFreight seeks to connect with charities, such as Baked Relief, to transport donated goods into remote areas via the student pilots' empty aircraft. Pilots are able to access an inventory of donated goods with a destination assigned to each carton of goods. These are called "Sorties." Once a sortie has been chosen and flight planned, goods are delivered to the departure airport for the pilot or available for pickup in Brisbane. A destination contact on the ground is also assigned to each sortie, so that the pilot is able to organise pickup at the destination aerodrome.
