Description

Carolinas Neuromuscular Disease/ALS-MDA Center is one of the Southeast's most comprehensive programs for the study and treatment of degenerative neuromuscular diseases. Benjamin Brooks, MD, and Elena Bravver, MD, along with their highly trained and compassionate staff, are dedicated to the treatment of neuromuscular diseases in both adult and pediatric patients. Our multidisciplinary approach to patient care integrates all services, enabling us to provide each patient with an individualized care plan, tailored to meet the patient's specific needs. In addition, our center offers support from specialists in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, respiratory therapy, social work, counseling for depression/anxiety, nutritional counseling and exercise therapy. We also participate in the most current clinical trials, emphasizing research in novel compounds and new methods in treating and evaluating patients. We operate two internationally recognized translational research laboratories: Carolinas Neuromuscular/ALS Research Laboratory and McColl-Lockwood Laboratory for Muscular Dystrophy Research. These state-of-the-art laboratories are a major component of our comprehensive approach to treatment.
