Please make plans to join us and invite others for our Friends and Family Day on October 12! The theme will be "Does the 21st Century Need God?" In the 21st century, faith is considered ignorance, any distinction between right and wrong has been removed, long held understandings have been redefined to fit the choices of people today, and religion has become something that tends to upset people. Is faith out of date in an age of information? Is God no longer needed because of scientific knowledge? Is society better off without Christians and the Lord's church? Does God have anything to offer you personally in the 21st century? Join us as we consider some of these questions and try to reason concerning God's place in the modern world. Schedule: Bible Class 9:30: What Does the 21st Century Need? Worship at 10:30, Sermon: The Need for God is Timeless Please stay for lunch, served in the Family Room Afternoon worship at 5pm, Sermon: The United States Without Christ

My dad, Eddie Hereford who used to attend the Cary congregation before moving back to his home state of WV in 2003, was taken to hospice today. He has had cancer since February. The hospice workers hope to get his breathing under control and give him the medicine he needs over the next few days before they let him return home and have hospice take care of him there. I had originally scheduled to leave for WV a week from today, but I got my flight changed to Wed. instead. I'm still in "work mode" right now and this hasn't all sunk in yet for me. This is really it. We have appreciated your thoughts and prayers this year. The next few weeks are going to be hard.
