Celebrating 59 years of Lennon & McCartney today!
What an honour and a pleasure to hear that the legend that is Carol King chose to perform her song 'Chains' (made popular by The Beatles in 1963) under the Cavern logo on stage in Hyde Park at BST festival last Sunday. If any of you lovely people were there and managed to get a snap of the great lady and the Cavern logo and would like to share it with us we'd love to see it! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-36700451

New videos! We invited the lovely Amy Slattery Official to the Cavern Club Liverpool last Saturday to play a few songs with us. She does Beatles and 60’s covers on YouTube so we thought it would be fun to get to meet her and let her experience the Cavern Club magic together. And boy was it fun :-) She uploaded the 3 songs we did together on her channel. You can check them out here: You Can’t Do That: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SiBLafkaZc She’s A Woman: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWsUIKlWUEI I Feel Fine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Z4TxN-bsKc On that high note we also wish all the Americans in the MLT family a Happy Independence Day! We hope you all sing, dance and celebrate the night away. We very vividly remember the possibly greatest fireworks we’ve ever seen during our visit to the States many years ago. All our loving, we send to you ;-) Mona and Lisa

Cavern Club history - 3rd July 1962, Freddie & The Dreamers appeared at The Cavern, (one of 13 appearances at the club). Their stage act was enlivened by the comic antics of the 5-foot-3-inch-tall Freddie Garrity, who would bounce around the stage with arms and legs flying. Although the band were grouped as a part of the Merseybeat sound phenomenon that The Beatles exploded around the world, they came from Manchester. Prior to becoming a singer, Garrity had worked as a milkman in Manchester.

Cavern Club history - 1st July 1962, Gene Vincent appeared at The Cavern with The Beatles, Kansas City Five and Sounds Incorporated, a six-piece outfit which included three saxophones, guitar, bass and drums, (and later went on to play with the Beatles at their Shea Stadium concert). The Beatles had become friendly with Gene Vincent during their third Hamburg residency earlier in the year. They were all fans of the rock 'n' roll veteran; indeed, Paul McCartney had sung Vincent's Be-Bop-A-Lula on the day he first met John Lennon.
