The Open House is Wednesday evening with a BBQ starting at 5pm hosted by School Council (proceeds going towards the school yard fundraiser). Hot Lunch aka Pizza Day starts on Wednesday as well. And our 2nd School Council meeting is Wednesday Oct 1st at 7:30pm. We will be discussing lots of great stuff going on at our school as well as holding our election for Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer so please attend.
Anyone able to pick up the coffee from the Wellington Starbucks for the 9am meet and greet on Tuesday? Super busy this week with hot lunches starting and the open house BBQ so help would be appreciated!
School Council will be hosting a BBQ on Wednesday October 1st during the open house. If you are able to volunteer (picking up supplies, set-up, cooking, clean-up) please reply to this post or email email@example.com. Thanks!
There are free Parent Asthma classes at St. Lawrence College Oct 1st, 8th, and 15th. Please contact Nicola Thomas at 613-544-5400x1664 or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions or wish to register. She said the parents who have had a child with asthma for years come as well and say they still learned a lot.
We are planning a silent auction for our school yard fundraiser. Anyone have a new or handmade item or know a business that might donate an item or gift certificate for this? Please reply to this post or email email@example.com. Thanks!
First school council meeting is tonight at 7:30pm. There will be pizza compliments of Pizza Pizza. Hope to see you there!
Don't forget, free coffee and tea in the schoolyard at 3:30pm at our monthly Meet and Greet. Thanks to the Starbucks at Princess and Wellington for sponsoring this event and thanks to Centennial parents Mike Roberts and Dave Hudson for helping to make it happen!
Please be sure to send in your completed form for School Council to your child's teacher (yellow form sent home last week). We now have class reps for Ms. Beardall (x3!), Ms. Davis, Mr. Sommerville, and Ms. Byers classes. So if your child is in one of the other classes, please consider signing up for class rep; and we still need backup class reps for the others as well since we realize most parents cannot attend every meeting. Thanks! Hope to see you Wednesday at 7:30pm for our first council meeting in the school library.
Starting the last two weeks of September, milk will be available to purchase at the school. Order forms for the milk and hot lunch program will be going home soon for the month of October. Please consider supporting this program since it helps purchase much needed items for our school. If you are interested in volunteering Wednesdays at 10:45am with hot lunches, or getting involved with the school in other ways, please let us know by completing the School Council form that is coming home with your child today.
Don't forget to follow our school on Twitter: Centennial PS @Centennial_LDSB. Our school principal updates it regularly with photos and stories.
Thank you to all our volunteers for our Family Game Night...school staff and parents and Family for the Win. What a great night!

Don't forget there is free coffee at the front of the school in the morning compliments of Starbucks at Princess and Wellington. Starting at 8:30am. Hope to see you there.
Don't forget that it is pajama day at school on Tuesday and the school is hosting some very special guests after school (Elsa, Batman, and Cookie Monster). Also, don't forget to read each evening from 7-7:20pm because Mrs. Nitschke may call you at that time to see what you are reading for your chance to be entered into a draw!
This year we have been hosting our council meetings on the first Wednesday of every month. In February our meeting will be on Tuesday February 3rd so we hope some parents can attend that might not normally be able to come to our Wednesday meetings. Hope to see you there!
We are looking for one or two more pizza helpers for our Wednesday Pizza Day that could come fairly regularly to help out. Volunteers should arrive at 11:05am and sign in and come to the middle hallway. There will be someone there to instruct you how to help. Thanks!
Nothing new to report other than...what an awesome school we have!

Thank you to so many people for making our year end fundraiser such a success! Thank you to school staff and volunteers (including family and community members as well as Calvin Park students) and those that provided amazing baked treats, jars for the raffles, and silent auction items. There was so much to see and do and it looked like the kids had a blast!
Fingers crossed for the storm to pass us over today, but the Fun Fair will carry on inside if needed.
We hope you're as excited as we are about the Fun Fair this Friday. We have lots of activities for the kids...more than ever before. There are lots of fantastic silent auction and raffle items including a new awesome BBQ. There will also be vendors at the Fun Fair this year. Hope to see you there!
If you are able to volunteer at the school Fun Fair on Friday June 12th at 4pm, please comment on this post or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Help would be appreciated with the BBQ or other activities. Even for just an hour would be helpful. Thanks!

Congratulations to our new executive parent council board members.
Please note, childcare is available at tonight's meeting and we will try to have childcare available for all upcoming meetings as well.
Order forms for pizza and milk went home this week (some will probably be coming home today). Deadline is Monday Sep 28th. We apologize for the delay in getting the forms out. If you don't have a form and would like to order, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or write what you want on a piece of paper with the payment. Pizza is $3 a slice or $5 for two slices per child. Milk (white and chocolate) is $1. The pizza and milk program is the primary fundraising at our school so we hope that you will consider supporting this program.
