Morton, III, MD, is the medical director for the Saint Thomas Medical Partners, Center for Surgical and Medical Weight Loss. Dr. Morton has almost 40 years of experience in general surgery and has specialized in bariatric surgery for the last 14 years. He received his undergraduate degree from Auburn University and his medical degree from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Morton is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons. Outside of work, Dr. Morton enjoys playing golf with his wife and spending time with his grandchildren. George B. Lynch, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained general, laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon specializing in minimally invasive weight loss surgery and other advanced surgical techniques. He received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Lynch is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He is also a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons. Outside of work, Dr. Lynch enjoys gardening, cooking, and spending time with his family. James McDowell, Jr., MD, was born and raised in Texas. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Houston and his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He completed his residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. McDowell is an experienced bariatric and general surgeon, specializing in the Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy and Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass. In addition to laparoscopic weight loss surgery, Dr. McDowell now offers his patients the Orbera intragastric balloon, a non-surgical weight loss procedure. He is currently serving as Chief of Surgery at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital. Dr. McDowell is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He is also a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons. Outside of work, Dr. McDowell enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, and fishing. Natalie Watanasiriroch, FNP-C is a Family Nurse Practitioner dedicated to helping people achieve healthier lifestyles through the center’s medical weight loss program. She is originally from Charlotte, NC and received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her graduate degree from Duke University in Durham, NC. Prior to being a nurse practitioner, Natalie worked as a critical care nurse for four and a half years at UNC Healthcare in Chapel Hill, NC. Natalie recognizes the uniqueness of all people and in turn creates weight management plans individualized to each patient's specific needs. In honor of Jesus' healing ministry, the Center for Surgical and Medical Weight Loss is dedicated to spiritually-centered, multidisciplinary care of the obese population. Our comprehensive center of excellence is committed to ongoing, compassionate care while providing dignity and respect to each individual.
