Description
This patriotic, heartwarming family event pays tribute to our Nation's wounded heroes and Orlando's rich military history. The event features a military band, military vehicles and many organizations on hand that support local veterans. The Central Florida Navy League is excited to present its 6thannual Wounded Warrior Lone Sailor 5K & 10K at Blue Jacket Park in Orlando, FL. For over 30 years, Baldwin Park was home to Naval Training Center Orlando, and Blue Jacket Park is located on the former grounds. At the 2014 WWLS 5K & 10K, the Navy League broke ground on a new Lone Sailor Memorial, which is being donated to the City of Orlando to honor and commemorate those who served at NTC Orlando. This event's primary goal is to raise money for charities that support wounded service men and women and the Central Florida military communities. Over the years we have raised more than $200,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project, Building Homes for Heroes, and the Lone Sailor Memorial of Central Florida. This year we are excited to partner with Camaraderie Foundation, whose mission is to provide healing for invisible wounds of war through counseling, emotional, and spiritual support for all branches of military service members, veterans, and their families. 0600 Registration/Packet Pick-up Opens 0730 Opening Ceremony 0800 10K Start 0815 5K Start 0915 Official Event Ceremony 1000 Closing *Raffle and Silent Auction immediately following Registration ends at 11:59pm on Tuesday 3/31/15.
