The owners of Checker Cab are the original founders and owners of Gator City Taxi. The Braddock family established the company in 1983 with just six vehicles, by the time they sold Gator City Taxi in 1999 the fleet consisted of nearly 400 vehicles. In 1992 the Braddock’s’ Taxi Company was awarded the contract to be the exclusive taxi service of the Jacksonville International Airport. The Braddock Family received numerous awards and recognition not only locally but all across the industry. In 1997 their company became one of the first taxi companies in the world to utilize computerized dispatching with GPS tracking.
