Description
The gymnastics club is a limited company with charitable status. Any surplus funds are used to pay for coaching courses, exams, entry fees to competitions and of course equipment. We are a competitive and recreational gymnastics club whose aim is to encourage children of any standard and ability to enjoy gymnastics. We take part in County and Regional competitions and also take our recreational gymnasts through the British Gymnastics Association (BGA) proficiency award scheme. We also run our popuar pre-school courses focusing on combining fun with fitness and agility within a safe environment. The club started about 30 years ago and was based at Dovedale Sports Centre, Vicarage Road, Chelmsford. We have worked hard to move into our own permanent premises which are at Tattersall Way. Julie Belemore, the current Head Coach, took over the club in 1992. When Julie took over the club had 20 girls, training on two badminton courts on a Saturday. We now have over 200 gymnasts, with a waiting list of 100 more, training 4 times a week. We currently have 3 Essex champions: 2 silver medalists and a regional finalist. Our Level 4 team won the bronze medal at the County Team competition in October 2008 and our Level 3 team came 4th in the county. We also have 1 gymnast who is a member of the County squad.

General Info
Sessions: Pre-School Recreational Competitive Adults Disability's Boys and Girls Safety: Gymnasts must be dropped off in the main gym at the start of their gym ssessions. Girls must never be dropped off in the car park or at the entrance to the sports centre incase a gym session is ever cancelled. Please also collect your daughters promply from the sports hall at the end of each gym session. Dress Code: Gymnasts must arrive at their training session wearing club kit with their hair neatly tied back from their face. This is very important for gymnastics, as loose hair falling in the face can be particularly dangerous for the gymnasts. The squad should also ensure they have training shoes at each gym session, as running is usually part of their conditioning training. In the current cold weather, please also make sure gymnasts have adequate clothing when arriving and leaving the sports hall. Club Kit: Kit can be purchased from the club, or by emailing us direct. We also run a 'previously owned kit' scheme where you can sell any items of kit that you no longer need. Parents Association: Why not help the club by joining our Parents Association?
