Well done to Lydia Day and Sarah Vickers who defeated five other teams in the regional final of the English Speaking Union Debating Competition last night. It was a very well deserved victory. Many thanks to Lydia and Sarah for their careful preparation and persuasive speaking, and to our coach Jamie Jackson. This is the first time that a Cheney team has ever got to the national final of this competition – Lydia and Sarah will compete against 11 other teams from around England and Wales in London on Thursday 26 March.

Parents, students and staff will be aware that Cheney School has just had a section five Ofsted inspection which took place on the 28-29 January 2015. We should be receiving the report shortly, and this will be posted on our website when we have confirmation from Ofsted we are able to announce this. We are confident that our continued progress as a school, improving student outcomes and the ambition we have at Cheney, will be recognised in the report. Any improvements raised from the inspection will be built into our school improvement plan. We would like to thank the whole school community for their support and involvement in the inspection process.
