The Cherrydale Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1898 as a benevolent organization and remains so today. Our mission statement is to aid in the preservation of life and property in our community of Cherrydale and all of Arlington County. The Cherrydale Volunteer Fire Department was Arlington's first fire department (then known as the Cherrydale Fire Department). The Department, which celebrated its centennial in 1998, represents one of the last remaining operational volunteer fire departments in Arlington County. The Department houses a Light and Air unit (LA103) and a light utility vehicle (U103) that provides emergency support services throughout the county. The Department's membership is diverse and consists of operational members and administrative members.
