Chesapeake Shakespeare Company is Maryland's premier classic theatre, a nonprofit professional company dedicated to using the great works of Shakespeare and other classic playwrights to engage audiences in meaningful ways through innovative performance, community outreach, and educational programming. We say, "Shakespeare is for everyone," and we are devoted to inclusion and to inviting the audience into the experience of the plays. We dream boldly, create passionately, engage meaningfully, and entertain energetically. We strive to use the poetic language, universal themes, cultural content, and great humanity expressed by these storytellers to build community connections. We are not just a stage or playhouse: We are a new anchor of a gateway corridor in Downtown Baltimore and we strive to contribute to its renaissance. Our educational programming serves thousands of schoolchildren from the city, from Maryland counties, and from surrounding states.
