Chicago Shear was developed by hair stylist, Aaron David (Aaron), who has been in the salon industry for over ten years. Aaron realized there was a need for higher standards in shear sharpening. Having been dissatisfied with the way his shears were sharpened throughout the years, Aaron became determined to learn and perfect the skill of shear sharpening. Aaron learned from the best of the best when it comes to shear sharpeners, Matthew Biagi, and after many hours of research, classes, and hours upon hours of practice, Aaron soon began to receive requests to sharpen his co-workers’ shears and requests from other prominent stylists. Both as a hairstylist and shear sharpener, Aaron has a well-rounded understanding on how shears should perform and feel after they have been sharpened; that is what sets Chicago Shear apart from the rest. Aaron has cut with and sharpened all types and brands of shears and worked with some of the top brands of tools. Chicago Shear can guide you in the right direction when you need to find the right type of shears, brushes, combs, clips, etc., When you are ready to make that investment, contact Chicago Shear. - Drop off and while you wait service on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday (by appointment only). -Conveniently located near 90-94 exit 35th St. I-55 Damen exit CTA red line 35th St./White Sox stop. 1 block west of Halsted on 35th Street - Pick up service from salon available upon request as follows: 1+ shears $10.00 pick up charge includes free drop off 3+ shears $5.00 pick up charge includes free drop off 5+ shears, free pick up and drop off (all within city limits) Please Note: same day or next morning drop off depending on time of day and quantity of shears. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday only. -Shear sharpening charge: $30.00 for each pair of shears, includes an 8-step process to put your shears back in like new condition. Free oil dropper and leather polishing rag per order. FAQ Q. Does Chicago Shear sharpen on site at salons? I do not, but here is why... A. As a hairstylist, you can probably relate to this...I like to work in my own environment, where I have the right amount of room, table space, lighting and zen like atmosphere so I can focus on the job. Working from my shop, will ensure you receive top quality professional service. As a hairstylist, it would be like cutting hair in a kitchen with no room and bad lighting. Q. Can I mail/Fedex/UPS my shears? A. That service is not set up just yet, I'm working the logistics of it. It will be available in the near future. Hang on tight peeps! But if it's the most convenient way for you, contact me and we'll work it out. Q. If my shears are going to be picked up from the salon and I don't have a back up pair, can I get a loaner? A. Yes, I have shears that you can use while your shears are being sharpened, if you do not have a back-up pair. But, I will inspect the loaners after they have been used and if they have been compromised, lost or stolen in any way, we will have to charge accordingly. But I haven't experienced that problem yet.
