Chicagoland Infant Massage is an independently operated Infant Massage business. This page supports infant massage classes, parenting, and wellness.
What can I learn? In a group or 1 on 1 setting; we will learn all the various safe and healthy infant massage techniques that can be applied at any time and place. As infant massage about making the connection with our baby, it’s best that we are also at our best. Therefore, we will also discuss healthful topics in order to make a conscious effort for our own overall health and wellness. This can benefit the massage process and the mood of us and therefore our little ones; which does show greater overall success. The way this is attained is through breathing exercises, light meditation, and group discussion along with learning the infant massage techniques (the what and why’s of infant massage). What's the benefits? For babies: Infant-Parent attachment or “bonding”, Relaxation, Helps baby feel loved, Promotes better sleep, Facilitates body awareness, Boosts immune system, Sensory stimulation, Improves skin condition, Improves blood circulation, Helps digestion, Balances respiration, Relief for teething pains, Help waste elimination, Helps build parents’ and baby’s self-esteem, Helps you learn about your baby (their needs and desires), Relaxes parents, Pleasurable experience, Stimulates production of oxytocin (Oxytocin is a hormone which can be produced by both male and female persons during massage. It is useful as a pain reliever and has a calming effect on the person.) For Parents/Caregivers: Caregivers report feeling more comfortable and confident in their ability to care for baby, Parents learn to understand and respond to baby’s cues, Parents learn techniques to comfort, calm and soothe their babies, Provides an additional avenue for close and nurturing contact. Why are classes more than 1 day or 1 week? A month time period (average of 4 classes) help create a routine, which can not only benefit the process of incorporating infant massage into your schedule, but also can refresh and renew what we learn in the each session; in order to remember and correctly perform all the various techniques that will be taught. Each of the classes is designed to cover a specific body area of the infant and to explain how and why this benefits the little one’s health and wellness. Parents/Caregivers are encouraged to also bring topic discussion items and any questions; so that we may all learn from this experience in a group family setting or 1 on 1. Where? Sarah teaches at yoga and baby studios all over the Chicagoland area, local day care workshops, gyms, in homes, over skype, teen parent groups, hospitals, in group mommy classes and is always open to any ideas!
