We had our first camp planning meeting last night. We are all really excited to get started. Our applications will be online mid-February. We are working on an online application that will allow you to go back in and update dosing information. How cool is that!?! You will also be able to use a phone or tablet to fill out the application. Our fees will go up a bit this year to $100 for kids with diabetes and $125 for siblings. We will also be doing the buses a bit differently this year. Since the buses are such a huge part of our budget each year, we decided that we need to figure out the true need for them. This year if you want your child to ride the bus, you will buy a ticket for the week for $25. You will know your child has a seat on the bus you choose. If we sell out of seats, then you will need to either choose a bus that still has seats or make other arrangements to get your child to camp. Still, the buses will leave at their scheduled departure time, so don't miss the bus if you choose to buy a ticket. We will still have 1-2 medical staff and a bus liaison riding the buses. These people, and their kids, will get free tickets. If you want to ride for free, volunteer for one of these jobs. If we have room, volunteers may ride the bus for free. If we still have seats available the week before camp, we will allow parents to buy tickets. Finally, the biggest news, you will be able to pay for camp on line with a debit or credit card this year. We worked with Bank of America this past year to set up and online payment system. You can also make donations and buy silent auction items with a credit card at camp using those credit card scanners that attach to a tablet or a phone. We are all working really hard to make Camp Bluebonnet, Camp Bluebonnet Buds, and CIT/HS Weekend a great experience for your kids.

Hi Everyone, We will be updating our website soon, but here is some info to tide you over: Camp Bluebonnet dates for this year will be June 15-19, 2015. This year we will be accepting campers who will be going into 1st grade-12th grade. This camp is for kids who have diabetes. We also have limited space for siblings of campers registered to attend Camp Bluebonnet. Kids who have graduated high school, but have not yet turned 18 may also apply to to Camp Bluebonnet. CIT/HS Weekend will be May 15-17, 2015. This is an additional option of a weekend retreat for any of our registered Camp Bluebonnet campers who are going into high school. There will be an extra fee. Camp Bluebonnet Buds Day will be May 16. This is a new program for kids who have diabetes but have not yet completed kindergarten. A parent or guardian will be required to attend with the child and will be responsible for managing the child's diabetes during the day. Anyone attending Camp Bluebonnet Buds will also be invited to attend Camp Bluebonnet Family Day on Friday June 19, 2015. We will be limited to 200 campers for Camp Bluebonnet. We are still deciding limits for both CIT/HS Weekend and Camp Bluebonnet Buds Day. Please consider volunteering at Camp Bluebonnet if you can make the time. If you would like to sponsor an activity for camp this year, let us know. Fees have not yet been decided, but will be posted online as soon as they are set.
