The Space This adorable one-bedroom flat is a unique renovated boathouse that sits alongside an inlet of Chocolate Lake, right in the city of Halifax and close to downtown and the North and South End neighbourhoods, too. The location is ideal for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, out-of-town tourists, family visitors, weekend getaways, and travellers on the move. The bedroom is outfitted with all new bedding, a duvet, a large double closet with built-in shelving, and a beautiful view of the sunrise over the water in the morning. The bathroom has an extra-wide stand-up shower and is fully equipped with bath and hand towels, face clothes, soap, hairdryer, and straightener. The living room features a handsome new couch, desk area, and simple furnishings for maximum space. There is also a new flat screen TV with Apple TV, which has access to Netflix and a number of other fun features. The kitchen has the essentials including: microwave, 2-burner hot plate, mini-fridge, dishes and cutlery, pot and pan, kettle, coffee maker, and brand new cabinets and sink. There are clothes for washing and drying dishes, dish soap, and paper towels stocked each stay. Guest Access You have absolute privacy during your stay. Nobody lives in the flat, which means you can make the space your own. You have access to your own private entrances, a private deck with a view of the lake, and a parking space outside your front door. Please note you cannot swim in the lake directly from the backyard, however Chocolate Lake beach is less than a 10 minute walk away. Check in is at 3:00PM and check-out is at 11:00AM. I am flexible so if you need to stay a little later or arrive a little earlier, just discuss it with me and I'll see what I can do! Interaction with Guests I live next door and I can meet you on arrival, arrange to meet you at a time that's convenient during your stay, or you can simply correspond with me over text, email, and by phone. I want to help make your arrangements for arrival and departure as easy as possible. Other Things to Note The Armdale neighbourhood is centrally located in the heart of Halifax. Bustling by day and sleepy at night, the area is defined by the popular Chocolate Lake, named after the chocolate factory that used to be on this little lake's shores. House Rules Please be respectful of the neighbours and keep loud noise to a minimum from 11:00pm-9:00am (within reason) and no smoking indoors. Halifax recently introduced new rules for garbage and compost disposal and recycling paper and plastic. It is important to follow these rules, you will be provided with all the necessary means to do so, it is very much appreciated! There is a lovely couple who live downstairs with their young daughter. Please do not walk down the driveway to their backyard unannounced. If you have water sports (kayak, paddle board, rubber dingy) that you would like to launch from the backyard, to then paddle to open water, please contact me in advance and we can make arrangements for you to do so. The Neighbourhood Chocolate Lake Airbnb is near the beach and popular walking and bike trails (Rails to Trails), local eateries, and attractions. The flat is located 0.5km from the Armdale Rotary. It's a five-minute walk to the Halifax Shopping Centre, a five-minute drive to the North and South end neighbourhoods, and a quick ten minutes to drive to downtown. Guests can purchase a day-pass to a facility one block away for only $5.00 and have access to a salt water pool, hot tub, and gym amenities from 6:00AM - 11:00PM. Adults only at the pool 9:00PM – 11:00PM. Getting Around There is a bus stop outside the front door that routes to downtown Halifax, Bayer's Lake, and a main terminal at the Halifax Shopping Centre. Taxi cabs are easily accessible and phone numbers are provided.

How To Get to Chocolate Lake Airbnb

Guests can take a MetroX bus from the Halifax International Airport to the Airbnb. Cash fare is $3.50 for this bus and the drive is approximately 60 minutes. Ask for a bus transfer when you get on. You will get off on the last stop, on Albemarle St. Then walk one block on Albermarle to Duke St., and walk down the street toward the water for two blocks on Duke. You will see the Water St. Terminal. Catch the #6 Quinpool at this terminal, you can use your bus transfer for this last ride. You will get off across the street from the Airbnb on St. Margaret's Bay Rd. (Let the driver know the street address is 332 St. Margaret's Bay Road and they will stop for you.)
