Christ's Films is a student-run cinema showing films to University of Cambridge members throughout full term.
Christ’s Films is a student-run cinema, founded in the 1960s to provide an alternative to the expensive local cinemas. We are open to all members of the University of Cambridge, showing films throughout full term in the Yusuf Hamied Theatre, Christ’s College. We show a combination of classic films and the latest blockbusters fresh from the mainstream cinemas. In Lent Term ’99, we bought a 35mm film projector (the same format used by many cinemas) to greatly increase both sound and picture quality, and in 2008 upgraded the sound system to cinema grade Dolby Digital. We can also show films in scope format (very wide screen), and our combination of technical equipment gives one of the best film experiences in Cambridge.
