Description

Clarmain Dental Centre offers a host of services to restore and maintain your healthy teeth and your beautiful smile. Oral Examinations: Routine dental examinations include the evaluation of both the hard and soft tissues of the oral cavity, focusing on such things as: oral cancer screenings, the health of the gums and supporting bone structures, and the condition of all teeth and dental restorations. It is recommended that patients periodically have a more thorough exam where the Dentist can update the charting, discuss new dental materials and technology, and together with the patient, develop long term goals for oral health. This also allows time for discussion of any extensive treatment that may have been proposed at the routine check-up. Oral Cancer Screening: Oral Cancer is not something we like talking about but the reality is that over 1,000 Canadians die every year from oral cancer. Until recently there has not been a screening method available to the general public that could detect oral cancer in its early and most treatable stages. One of the recent developments in this area is a screening process that uses a specially designed light to detect changes in the oral tissues. It is quick, pain free and very effective. We at Clarmain hold your oral health and overall health in the highest regard. We now have this screening technology available to all of our patients. If you would like further information please speak to one our staff members. CEREC Restorations CEREC is a superior method of creating precisely-designed, colour matched and highly durable ceramic restorations right in our practice. Digital Impression – A state-of-the-art digital 3D camera creates an optical impression of the area to be restored. This digital image replaces the physical impression required in traditional procedures. Computer Aided Design – CAD software allows us to design every precise detail of your restoration with unprecedented accuracy, allowing us to customize the shape of the restoration to exactly fit your needs. Mill and Place – Our on-site milling machine uses the exact design specifications to create your all-ceramic, colour-matched restoration in about 15 minutes. Fitted, bonded and polished, your tooth is now restored, back to its natural form, function and beauty. Veneer Restoration Veneers are super strong, ultra thin facings of sculpted tooth coloured porcelain that are bonded over the front of one or more of your teeth. Veneers can be used to whiten your teeth, hide discolouration, widen or lengthen them to ideal proportions. They can be used to add thickness and broaden your smile. They can also be used to straighten crooked teeth. They are virtually painless to place and can sometimes be done with little or no tooth preparation and simple bonding. Implant Dentistry There are many benefits to replacing a missing tooth. If the gap is near the front of your mouth it will make your smile unattractive. A missing back tooth can affect your chewing and teeth adjacent to and opposite the gap can move and alter your bite, which can subsequently upset the function of your temporomandibular joints and chewing muscles. With today’s biotechnological advances, an ideal way of replacing a tooth is with a titanium implant, a man made root. The implant is placed into bone, which over a short time bonds into the bone. The implant has an internal thread which can be used to support a porcelain tooth. Laser dentistry Laser stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation, which means a device that produces and amplifies radiated light. Light can be amplified to certain wavelengths and this light energy can be used in dentistry for a number of applications. The Odyssey Laser we have in our office creates an intense beam of light which is transmitted via a very fine fiberoptic tip. The Laser will precisely cut or reshape tissue in the mouth, as in cosmetic recountouring of the gums and many other surgical situations. With the use of the Laser there is very little or no bleeding, surgery is much more comfortable than with other methods, and healing is a lot faster. The Laser also promotes and speeds up healing for infected or irritated tissues such as infected gingival (gum) pockets. Take Home Whitening Tooth whitening has become a well-established procedure in cosmetic dentistry. The whitening process is effective on most discoloured teeth. The degree of whiteness will vary from patient to patient, depending on the structure of the teeth. Your dentist will discuss with you the best method for your teeth, during a complimentary consultation. Everyday use of coffee, soda and staining foods can dull and darken teeth. The active whitening ingredients in Nite White ACP, Carbamide Peroxide and Hydrogen Peroxide, and safely and effectively whiten even the most difficult stains. Nite White is the only take-home whitening brand with patented ACP technology. ACP fills tooth surface defects to restore enamel luster for a white, bright, healthy smile. Nite White ACP is a delicious gel that is worn overnight using a comfortable and inconspicuous custom fitted tray. ZOOM! Whitening System Whiten teeth fast with the scientifically advanced ZOOM! Teeth Whitening System. Feel good and look great with a whiter smile. Call us to set up a FREE smile evaluation and find out more about ZOOM! ZOOM! in about an hour The ZOOM! in-Office Whitening System can make your teeth dramatically whiter in a little over an hour. The procedure is simple. It begins with a short preparation to cover your lips and gum, leaving only your teeth exposed. The ZOOM! clinician then applies the proprietary ZOOM! Whitening Gel, which is activated by a specially designed light. Teeth typically become an average of eight shades lighter, sometimes more. A five minute fluoride treatment completes the procedure. Active Lifestyle Mouthguards – Having a custom fitted mouthguard designed and constructed by the specialists at Clarmain means that you'll breathe and speak more easily than if you were wearing a store-bought mouthguard. Your individually fitted sports guard is more comfortable to wear and more effective against injury. A short appointment to take an impression of the teeth can be booked at your convenience. Mouthguards can tear or wear out, so be sure to replace yours after each sporting season. Anti-snoring – Snoring is medically termed as a sleep related breathing disorder. An appliance worn in the mouth can offer a simple treatment option for snoring and obstructive sleep Apnea. A complete assessment by a physician or sleep disorder specialist is required, and this may involve an overnight Polysomnogram to diagnose your sleep disorder. Bruxing (Night) Guard – Everyone grinds or clenches their teeth. Some more, some less. Bruxism is the technical term for clenching and grinding. Most people do not even realize they are doing it. It can happen while you are under stress, in deep concentration or when angry. It is an unconscious habit that usually happens when we are sleeping. Bruxing can exert as much as 600 pounds per square inch, while sleeping – ten times the force registered during normal chewing. Habitual grinding or chewing your upper and lower teeth together can lead to serious complications for your oral health, causing wear, chipping and even complete breakage of the teeth, joint tenderness, popping, clicking and headaches.
