Dear All, This semester the format of Classics Club will be a little different than years past. There will be seven meetings: January 28th, February 11th and 25th, March 11th, April 1st, 15th, and 29th. The meetings will be held in Moore 423 at 3:30. All are welcomed to come and enjoy the experience. The format of the meetings will be three film viewings and four lecture, discussion, and short film meetings. I will attach what will happen in the lecture, discussion, and film meetings. The three films that we will be watching are: Hercules (02/11) with Dwayne the "Rock" Johnson, Alexander (03/11) with Colin Farrell, and 300 (04/15) with Gerard Butler. The other meetings are discussed in the attachment. However, the last meeting on April 29th will be the Classics Bowl. For those of you who do not know what it will consist about it, I will inform you. It is like the game jeopardy but the categories will be Greek and Roman mythology, history, and literature/language. If you have any questions about this club, please do not hesitate to ask. I hope to see many of you there.
Dear All, The last meeting for Classics Club on December 3rd at 3:30 in Moore 423 will be a very special meeting. It is the last meeting of the semester, but more importantly celebrating the memory of our recently passed founder, Kendall Inada. Kendall passed away early in November and in his memory we will be having a CLASSICS BOWL. The Classics Bowl was the last creation Kendall and I did together. It is a trivia game like jeopardy with four categories: Greek and Roman mythology, history, Greek and Latin grammar, and TBD. There will be special prizes given throughout the Classics Bowl. The prizes consist of Kendall’s books that he held dear for so long. They are an assortment of Greek, Latin, mythological, and historical books. ANOTHER REASON TO COME IS IT WILL BE KENDALL’S BIRTHDAY AND MANY ARE BRINGING CAKES, COOKIES, AND SWEETS! BEFORE THE MEETING ALL THAT COME WILL BE ALLOWED TO PICK FROM KENDALL’S OLD BOOKS EXCEPT FOR THE ONES THAT ARE SET ASIDE FOR THE PRIZES OF THE CLASSICS BOWL. ALSO WEAR YOUR CLASSICS CLUB SHIRTS IN HONOR FOR KENDALL TO RESPECT HIS CLUB PROUDLY! Thanks and hope to see you there, Chad Hui-Peterson
On Tuesday, November 4th, 2014 our founding father Kendall Inada (Batman) past away. He is the soul that kept the Classics Club going at UH Manoa. He brought joy to all members who came in. He never had a bad day and you could always hear his chuckle from his jokes. He will be truly missed by all you encountered him, especially me. RIP (Requiescat In Pace) Kendall.
