Most people prefer to age in their own homes yet practical challenges arise. The Cleveland Park Villages address these challenges and allow neighbors to remain in their community within a supportive network.

Description

For several years, the formation of a Cleveland Park Village was the subject of living room conversations. Ultimately a committee was formed to decide whether to build this new neighborhood service organization. Residents knew that Cleveland Park had many residents who could use and give help. To plan carefully, they conducted a survey within Cleveland Park, with over 350 households responding. This positive response led to the enthusiastic decision to proceed. An interested and eager group of citizens began meeting in February 2012 to move the initiative from talk to action. Since then a Board of Directors has formed, the Cleveland Park Village has been incorporated, and by-laws have been adopted. The Village received its 501(c)(3) tax exempt status late in 2012. The Cleveland Park Village opened on May 1, 2013, joining its sister villages in the metropolitan DC area. We welcome hearing from people who want to become members and/or volunteers or people who would like to support the Village by making a financial (tax deductible) contribution.
