The Coastal Maine Creative Arts Program at Lincoln Academy is committed to the development and strengthening of an individual’s artistic and intellectual self, through college level instruction, peer engagement, and the Midcoast Maine experience. Coastal Maine Creative Arts program aims to prepare students for successful admission and transition into college. Through the pre-college experience at CMC Arts, students are given more freedoms and expectations within the educational and social structure of the program. All students at CMC Arts will choose one major and one elective and take a comprehensive drawing class. They will also have the benefit of a college level portfolio review, and college placement advisement. CMC Arts students will have more independence within the learning and social environment, therefore we feel they can make choices and learn in a self-driven way. The program will culminate with a final exhibition in a professional gallery. Every student will participate in exhibiting their work. Each class will have projects created for the final show giving students the opportunity to see their work within a public context. Another unique aspect to the CMC Arts program is a student’s ability to take English language enrichment classes through the ESOL major. During the summer arts intensive, students will be immersed in our supportive and internationally aware English-speaking community. Students within the ESOL major, as with all students, will have a low student to faculty ratio, and will be engaged in a curriculum that enriches their English language skills.
