College Track is a national college completion nonprofit that empowers students from underserved communities to graduate from college. College Track is an educational non-profit working to increase high school graduation, college eligibility and enrollment, and college graduation rates among low-income, under-resourced high school students. College Track’s intended impact is to close the achievement gap and create college-going cultures by engaging a critical mass of underserved students in College Track programming, partnering with schools and community agencies, and influencing lasting change by raising awareness for college readiness and access initiatives. College Track is unique in producing 17 years of outstanding results. In the communities we work in, we are making it the norm, not the exception, for students of color and low-income students to graduate from high school and enroll in and graduate from college.

Description

With the support of Mayor Kevin Johnson, College Track opened its doors in the heart of Oak Park, Sacramento on July 1, 2014. Nearly half of Oak Park adult residents have not earned a high school diploma, and only 8% have a college degree. In addition, the college completion pipeline in Oak Park does not look promising: 73% and 62% percent of students at Sacramento High School are not college-ready in English and Math, respectively. Additionally, less than 2 out of 10 Sacramento High School students will earn a bachelor’s degree. We intend to change this. College Track launched our new center in Sacramento July 1, 2014 with its first cohort of rising 9th grade students. College Track will deliver comprehensive, high touch services to students and families in this cohort every year during high school and college. College Track will continue to recruit a new cohort of rising 9th graders each Spring. By Fall 2017, College Track Sacramento will grow to serve 240 high school students in grades 9-12 and by Fall 2018, College Track will enroll its first college freshman and by Summer 2022 graduate its first cohort of students. At full high school and college build-out, College Track expects to serve up to 500 students each year in the college completion pipeline. Mayor Kevin Johnson has created intentional focus on the pipeline of support given to students at various stages of development, from early childhood education through college and career readiness. College Track will complete the high school continuum, joining Reading Partners, City Year, Teach for America and other high performing education non-profits. Additional partners include St. Hope Public Schools, Social Venture Partners, and Closing the Gap. Together, we will have significant collective impact - delivering high quality programs and services and to support students who need it the most. College Track strongly believes that neighborhoods and schools must work more efficiently to support the healthy development of youth. Students in Oak Park deserve a safe space with caring and nurturing adults who provide them with the resources, knowledge and support needed to be successful. College Track and its partners have the opportunity to radically improve the academic and life outcomes for students in the Oak Park school community.

The California State Firefighters' Association
1232 Q St Sacramento , CA 95811 United States

CSFA is dedicated to ensuring our members a strong and united voice in the evolution of of the fire service through unity in leadership, political action, education, training and quality member services. The California State Firefighters' Association began in 1922, when a small group of firefighters met in Fresno to discuss the state of the fire service in California. After some discussion, it was decided that the very best way to serve the public and firefighters was to form an organization to work towards enacting laws to protect the public from fire and to improve working conditions for firefighters. As a result of that first conference, the California State Firefighters' Association, Inc. was born. From this initial gathering, a membership of more than 24,000 has grown. Members include paid, volunteer, military and industrial firefighters, members of the California Department of Forestry, United States Forest Disaster Office, Office of Emergency Services (Fire and Rescue Division), State Fire Marshal's Office, State Fire Service and Training Program and California state-employed firefighters. Time has proven that a consolidated effort of California's fire service through CSFA has helped all its branches.
