Description

CFDC is an IRS Approved 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization. Why are we doing this? Everyone involved in Community Food Bank is involved for the same reason: to give back to the community. We all feel strongly about hunger and access to free food by the needy. From the Board of Directors, to the Employees, to the Volunteers, everyone is dedicated to complete our Mission. Our Management Team: Joseph Haber, President, is a lifelong community activist. His father, Dr. Leonard Haber, served as Mayor and Commissioner of Miami Beach for 15 years in the 70’s and 80’s. As a youngster, he spent as much time in city council meetings and reading agendas as he did on at the PAL, the basketball courts and the beach. In 2006, he co-founded the Haber Diabetic Foundation, helping underprivileged families with juvenile diabetes. He serves on the Board of Adjustment in the City of North Miami and is involved in many local organizations. Mr. Haber further established his commitment to the community by running for North Miami City Council in 2013. Jacqueline Worrell, Executive Director, was a supervisor for the UP Postal Service for over 25 years. In 2009, she founded One Helping Many, a Miami based Non-Profit that provides access to technology for low income families and children. She worked for over 5 years as the Executive Director of another local food bank. Samuel Eudovique, Program Director, came to Florida from Barbados. He attended Miami Dade Community College and Florida International University and Opera Music Theatre International in New Jersey. Mr. Eudovique majored in music, languages and business. Growing up as the son of a preacher, he was raised with a passion for people and business. As a board member of a one of South Florida's major food banks for over two years, his vision and desire to make a difference in the community has become even stronger. Sydell Hotson, Office Manager, has 35 years of customer service experience on the federal, state and local level. After relocating to Miami, she was the office manager of a national Non-Profit headquartered in New York. In 2010, she began as a volunteer at a local food bank. Subsequently she worked her way up to Office Manager. Lamar Swan, Warehouse Manager, spent 15 years in the Army as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. Mr. Swan has worked for food banks in the Miami area for the last 10 years. He worked as a Warehouse Manager of a local food bank for the last 6 years. Dr. Anthony Lulo, Board Member, after leaving private practice in Kansas City, Dr. Lulo moved to Miami where he became active in medical missions, charity work and is active with the municipality of Bay Harbor Village. He has served as a Board member of the Haber Diabetic Foundation since 2006. Bobbi Herman, Board Member, comes to Community Food bank with decades of experience in food distribution. She pioneered South Florida Food Recovery which was given great admiration by the US Army when Hurricane Andrew hit Miami in 1992. Ms. Herman was a founding member of Farm Share. She has received many accolades over the years and is dedicated to giving back to her community. Who we Distribute Food and How We distribute free food to low income families and individuals coming from Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Most of our recipients are over 65 years old. We also distribute to people and families on government assistance, single parents, immigrants, elderly, homeless, unemployed, handicapped, mentally and physically disabled, students and more. We work with many churches to refer to us their members who have suffered emergencies such as home displacement, fires, flooding, destruction, etc. We have distribution to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to Noon every week, 52 weeks a year. How we Find and Register our Recipients We utilize a subscription-based membership system, whereby we check the legal identification, employment and income of every recipient.
