Description
Conservation Council for Hawai'i incorporates research, education, advocacy and service to protect Hawai'i's remaining native plants and animals, including threatened and endangered species and their habitat. Current campaigns include raising awareness and increasing recovery actions for the critically endangered palila bird on Mauna Kea and the endangered Hawaiian monk seal; taking legal action to protect threatened and endangered seabirds from lights and utility lines on Kaua'i; raising awareness and public support for eradicating introduced rats to protect Hawaiian birds; and urging the federal government to remove pigs, rebuild fences, and hire more staff at the Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge on Mauna Kea to protect rare and endangered birds and plants.
