My name is Charles Raymond “ Ray" Nichols. Like you, I am a citizen of Dallas County Texas. I am a proud American, and even a prouder Texan. Like you, I assumed our local officials were “top notch,” including the Republican Constable in Precinct 2. I assumed my interest were being represented by my elected official. I have always respected and supported our law enforcement officers. However, I like many Texans had no idea who my Constable was or what exactly he was doing. The balance between government totalitarianism, and freedom with Ordered Liberty, is through the foundation of truth and fairness. Nothing is politically right which is morally wrong. The elected representative standing between government totalitarianism and you is a Texas Constable. His job should be as a protector of the people and their peace and liberties. What happens when our elected officials forget they represent and serve the people? They begin to serve their own selfish ambitions, or impose their own agendas on those they supposedly represent. Ticket quotas become commonplace. Unrestrained police pursuits are never questioned. Speed traps become another form of hidden taxation. In short, government runs amok. The office of Constable is an important office. Being a local elected law enforcement office, it affects the people directly and often. It can serve the people, or it can serve itself and big government, but not both. Patrick Henry said "[t]he Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government - lest it come to dominate our lives and interests." This is what I believe, and this is a reason I ran for Constable, Precinct 2. Please continue to help me take back our government, bring the use of good old fashioned common sense back to our elected offices, insure that government serves the people of Texas, put the proverbial guard rails back on public policy, I am working for you, and I ask for your continued support.
