Dancing with a Pink Ribbon's goal is to increase the public's knowledge about breast cancer, prevention and early detection.

Description

Cornerstone Care’s “Dancing with a Pink Ribbon” Breast Health Project in Fayette, Greene, Washington and Somerset Counties in Southwestern Pennsylvania provides men and women with educational information about early detection and prevention of breast cancer. The target population for this outreach project is women age 40 and over that have not had a clinical breast exam by a professional or have not received a mammogram. We will be taking our medical mobile unit into communities and performing these clinical breast exams and give scripts for mammograms. Venues for these outings would be Community-based events, churches, places of employment, senior centers and civic organizations. Services we have provided so far for this project are as follows. • Clinical Breast Exams • Referrals for Mammograms • Educational Information • Vouchers for mammograms for the Uninsured • Healthy Women Program • Referral to Cornerstone Care Offices for a PCP Goals for this Project • To increase men and women’s knowledge about breast cancer • Build awareness about breast cancer • Provide preventive education and screenings • Increase the rates of Clinical breast exams and mammograms • Provide information and resources about Healthy Women Program • Overcome barriers and save lives Objectives for this Project • Decrease the number of women that are non complaint with clinical breast exams and mammograms • Perform mammograms monthly at community based events and outings • Education men and women monthly on early detection and prevention • Provide survivors stories at community based events • Educate community health educators to help reach women at risk
