Crank Music Studios, a rehearsal and recording facility unique in its practice, design and service delivery. Crank Music Studios has rehearsal space, recording capabilities, in-house tuition, instrument service and repair, sales of strings, cables, drum heads, sticks and music accessories. Permanently staffed by the same person; one set of keys = security. Crank Music Studios are ground floor, well lit, the décor is tasteful (no depressing dark walls), the furnishing is hand picked (no hand-me-down sofas) and the rehearsal rooms are spacious and wonderfully ambient. All equipment is industry standard or much, much better. The interior of the building that houses Crank Music Studios has been designed and built by Sean Rafferty, Crank Music's main asset. Sean set up the studio to ensure that there was sufficient space to move equipment around (wide corridors) and a central meeting point so that bands can interact with other bands when on a break. The studio itself creates its own dynamic. Sean has a long history in the music industry, but this isn't his primary motivation for setting up Crank Music Studios. Sean's professional background is grounded in working with marginalised individuals and groups who, for myriad reasons (poverty, substance abuse, victims of violence) find it difficult to access creative pursuits in a safe and supportive environment. Sean has stocked the studio with equipment that meets his own high standard, equipment that he'd be happy to use himself in a live or recording environment. Sean's goal is to enable individuals or groups to use this equipment that would be otherwise financially out of reach. Sean is working towards making Crank Music Studios that much needed provision. Crank Music Studios has been extremely fortunate in its patrons over the past 2 years, all of them, without exception, are hard working, conscientious individuals who themselves are an asset to the studio. Rehearsal A rehearsal at Crank Music Studios includes all of the following: Crank Music Studios is situated on the ground floor, so no stairs Full drum kit (fitted with Evans heads) Bass amp Guitar cabinets (either Marshall 1960 standard, Marshall 1960 Vintage 30 or Peavey Sheffield equipped) Tube amplifiers Noise gates and a selection of stomp boxes (Tube Screamers etc.) Vocal PA, mic stands, microphones (Shure SM58) Free equipment storage Other types of amplification are also available Free Wifi Free Tea and Coffee Free live recording Help and advice on hand at all times Live Recording Should you wish to record your rehearsal, or you want to share a track to upload to any social or music network, there's no extra charge on top of your rehearsal fee. Just make sure you request Crank Music Studios' live room to rehearse in when you make your booking, and you'll get a balanced and mixed live track(s) on CD at the end of your rehearsal session – NO EXTRA CHARGE. Should you forget anything, or should something break, Crank Music Studios are equipped to help on the spot. All regular users of Crank Music Studios are able to borrow amps, cabs, pedals, drums etc for their own gigs on the proviso that they are returned in the same condition as when they left the building; NO CHARGE. All regular users of Crank Music Studios also benefit from guitar and bass maintenance, strings, drum heads, sticks, cables etc at a greatly reduced cost but of the highest quality that's far below average high street prices. Recording – Production Recording Crank Music Studios' recording rates are priced per song, not by the hour; you're not watching the clock, you'll concentrate more, you'll perform better. Recording is a mix between analogue and digital. Crank Music Studios have the facilities to auto-tune, drum replace, re-amp, cut and paste, time shift etc...we choose not to do this; instruments have to be played, songs have to be sung. Recording at Crank Music Studios is hard work, no short cuts; we wouldn't have it any other way. At Crank Music Studios you'll get more time, help, assistance with arrangements, performance, tone and set up than any other studio. Crank Music Studios doesn't have a signature sound, that's for the band, Crank Music Studios has a signature service. Mastering Crank Music Studios does not have a room set aside for mastering, or any dedicated mastering hardware. Crank Music Studios is a recording and rehearsal facility, we leave the mastering to dedicated mastering suites and to the dedicated mastering experts. Tea and coffee are free. Cold drinks (Coke, Pepsi etc) are priced well below standard retail, as are chocolate, crisps etc. Wifi is free. Crank Music Studios are the only facility in the area with this level of quality in equipment, knowledge, experience, accessibility and service. Above all, Crank Music Studios is fair in its pricing and ethical in its practice. Crank Music Studios strives to help and encourage any individual or band that passes through its doors. Crank Music Studios are open and staffed for more hours than all of the other studios in the area. Crank Music Studios' rehearsal rates are priced at £20 per 3 hour session.
