Description

The Crate Café brand, will give a new lease of life to shipping containers that have traveled many thousands of miles by sea and road, through their commercial life span. Now rather than be destined to an ugly container graveyard, they will be transformed into unique cafes. Our containers can be placed anywhere in the world; on beaches, in city centres, at festivals. They can be stacked, reconfigured, become supersized bars and restaurants. The options are huge. Crate can also be run on or off the grid. When the weather is good the outside decking and seating will come into their own. During the winter you can sit inside by the log burner and take in the landscape through the panoramic windows, make use of the free wi fi or enjoy the free magazine and newspaper library. Inside each bespoke Crate cafe, upcycled wooden crates and pallets will be used to make a majority of the furniture, floor as well as the outside decking. The walls can be hung with local artists work, and seating will be arranged with a combination of ‘diner’ style booths and a long bar with stools. All food & drink will be locally & ethically sourced, and as coffee culture continues to grow, people are increasingly turning to independent traders. They are also becoming more discerning in their coffee choices and are keen to support the ‘love local’ concept. And it just wont be about great coffee, each café will stock a wide range of teas, soft drinks and fresh cakes. Supported by Portsmouth city council, we have already potentially secured our first prime beachfront location in Southsea, with its unrivaled views of the Solent. It is in an area of high footfall, with passing visitors, local residents, university students and those travelling to and from the Isle of Wight.
