WHEN IT RAINS IT POURS With today's thunderstorms, here are a few tips recently shared on Facebook that may help you. Of course you should always contact a professional, particularly for moderate to severe water issues. Roof leak: In the event of a roof leak, here's something that's easy to do, and could save hundreds of dollars! A temporary roof repair may be as easy as purchasing a can of roof tar that will seal in wet conditions, and/or plastic. When you see a ceiling leak, take a waste basket or pail and placed on the floor below, then take a pencil or screwdriver and make a hole in the middle of it to let all the water escape. This keeps major damage from happening to the acoustical or drywall ceiling. Water damage: What should you do if you have water damage? 1. Stop the water source any way you can, even if temporary. Have a professional help you when needed. Insurance companies never question stopping and reducing water damage and the cost associated in doing so. 2. Call your insurance company and notify them of a potential claim. 3. Get all of the damaged materials out, (a professional could help you if needed, or take care of this yourself), especially water soaked drywall and insulation. Carpet and minor damage can often be dried out without extraction. 4. Get fans to dry out the walls, floors, and cabinetry as applicable. When in question, consult a professional. 5. Do repairs after areas are confirmed dry. (This prevents mold from forming.) If you ever have water damage or flooding give us a call we can help remediate, fix and repair! Remember if you do nothing else, stop the water source and get the area dry! Contact a professional as needed. ***Tips shared by our Benco Dental Rep :)
