We are a not for profit outdoor pursuits and watersports facility that provides recreation, training, education and employment opportunities.

Description

Set up in 1992, we are a not for profit organisation to provide access to outdoor activities, training and education. Our 100-acre site is host to three fresh water lakes, woodland, hedgerow, wildflower meadows and activity centre. We offer a wide range of outdoor activities including: - Ice berg and inflatable water assault course - Water zorb and aqua rollers - Canoeing and pier jump - Paddle boarding - Kayaking - Raft building - Team building - Angling - Orienteering - Treasure hunt - Paintball - Nature trail - Free Environmental education workshops - Free wildlife events - Halloween events Funded by the Department for Communities, we provide recreation, training, education and employment opportunities for people of all ages. We also run a wide range of environmental, health, volunteering and walking projects throughout the year. Creggan Country Kitchen is also on site so you can enjoy a delicious meal overlooking the city. The mission statement of Creggan Country Park is to: ’Provide an integrated and innovative facility for all sections of the community, which also enhances the economic, social and environmental aspects of life for the multiply deprived community of Creggan.' We have four key priorities: 1. Creating a healthy society by: • Providing access to attractive green spaces • Creating new opportunities for sport and recreation • Encouraging participation in practical environmental conservation 2. Promoting inclusion and cohesion by: • Ensuring access to new jobs and services • Addressing barriers to inclusion and targeting disadvantaged communities and groups 3. Promoting sustainable development through: • Creating self sustaining jobs • Utilising renewable energy technologies and educating the public and other businesses on their advantages 4. Protecting, managing and promoting the local environment through: • Our environmental education programme ‘Nature’s Classroom’ • Biodiversity strategies lead by Derry City Council • Continuous improvements to the Creggan Country Park site through planting programmes to encourage native species, practical conservation, regeneration of disused areas of the park and regular inspections and clean ups.
