Important Compliance Information for Form 8867 Paid Preparers Earned Income Credit Checklist Description The IRS on February 4th issued a QuickAlert stating a large number of returns with Form 8867, Paid Preparer’s Earned Income Credit Checklist, have incomplete information. Per IRS form instructions, lines 22, 23, 24, 25, both parts of 26, and 27 are required fields for Form 8867. Starting February 7th, ProSeries now flags lines 22, 23, 24, 25, both parts of 26, and 27 as required for Form 8867. Also as of February 7th, ProSeries final review diagnostics began blocking the e-filing of returns with incomplete information on these lines of Form 8867 and the Intuit Electronic Filing Center will only allow 1040 returns to be e-filed which were prepared with this version of ProSeries. We understand that some returns with Form 8867 were filed before the Feb 4th IRS QuickAlerts notification. In working with the IRS, they told us they will not reject a return if information is missing. Instead, the IRS is contacting the professional preparers of impacted returns via letter stating that more information is required on Form 8867. The letter includes both an address and fax number for the tax preparer to submit their response. We will continue to update you as we learn more from the IRS

The same thing applies to people that receive Social Security, Disability, or any other government assistants. If you are on Disability, Social Security, or anything like that. If you have not received a work ticket from the Social Security office stating that you can work while receiving your benefits please do not let anyone convince you to do any kind of self-employment taxes. Even if you are truly self-employed you first must inform Social Security to see it will affect your benefits
Let me clarify on what I'm saying about the FIA situation. If you are self-employed truly and receive FIA you know that you only can make a certain amount. Don't try and boost it higher just to get back more money in you tax return. Be happy with what yours. When you try to take whats not yours that's when you begin to cause yourself problems. Two, keep track of your own self-employment earnings throughout the year. That way you know how much you made so you can report what you know that's right for your situation. If you leave it up to certain tax prepare rs they are going to put the most even if you did not make that much so that you get back more in your return. And so you can pay them more for preparation. And that's where the problem start if you report on your taxes for example if you report that you made $15,000- $20,000 on you taxes and you receive FIA you should know for a fact that your worker will be contacting you at the end of tax season. Although self-employment is non-guarantee income to report high amounts when you know you get FIA will cause you problems. So stop chasing high returns when you know it will cost you in the long run.
I would like to say to all our clients that are being patient while the IRS is catching up on processing Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!! And to all the clients that are calling a lot because they need their money now we truly understand. I just want you all to know every tax office around the country are receiving a minimum amount of tax refunds a day. All we ask is that clients be patient. Thank you for going D & J

Tax Update: We just got off the phone with the IRS maybe 10 minutes ago to see what is the hold up on people's checks.IRS stated that they are work as fast as they can, they only complete 20% of the people's that was sent in due to the high volume of tax returns set in..... Some people's did get there's already. But some have not..
